The build up to The First World War - 1914

February 1914

Russian politician Durnovo writes to the Tsar regarding the possible outbreak of war with Germany. He suggests that Britain would be unable to support Russia in a European conflict. Ominously for Tsarist Russia he also predicts that war with Germany would lead to a Socialist Revolution.

Russian Politician Durnovo warned of the dangers posed by revolutionaries, such as Lenin (pictured) in February of 1914. He was right, Lenin led the revolution of October 1917.

NOTE: Please remember that war did not break out across Europe until August of 1914. The months prior to the outbreak of war are included to illustrate the build up to the conflict: and as such contain much less interactivity.
