Build up to The First World War - 1914

Pressure in Europe has been building for some time now. The major powers have formed alliances and held discussions about what to do in certain circumstances: this included an an agreement as recently as 30th August 1913 by the British, French and Russians to act in solidarity (i.e. together) in any conflict against the Germans.

The growing concern is evident in Russia where on 20th January the Tsar meets to discuss Austria's attitude to Poland.

The Tsar of Russia discussed the possibility of war as early as January of 1914.

NOTE: Please remember that war did not break out across Europe until August of 1914. The months prior to the outbreak of war are included to illustrate the build up to the conflict: and as such contain much less interactivity.
