Schools History - Recommended Books
This section provides links to Books, Videos and Software that I've found
useful. They range from textbooks that I've found to be quite useful to
books that are handy for research purposes. There is also a selection
of 'general interest' books and several links to pieces of software that
are of use when teaching.

Current Reading
I don't think I've ever really done the Slave Trade justice in
my lessons, certainly after reading about haf of this I've realised
that there is SO much more that I could / should be incorporating
into lessons that I have done in the past.
Very well written and researched. Possibly a little too heavy to
be used in my own teaching of this topic - to year 9 pupils - but
certainly something that I'l return to to get additional ideas and
references from when planning for this next year. |

Films for History Lessons
There's currently a very interesting discussion on the History
Teachers' Discussion Forum about how suitable "The Pianist"
(or selected segments of the film) is for Year 9 students. |

Music for History Lessons
When writing the new Music
in History lessons section I kept on having to return to this
CD - and the others in the series - to make sure I wasn't kidding
myself about the number of First World War tunes I've used in lessons.
An amazing collection - there are 5 or 6 CD's in the series in total,
all well worth having for lessons. |
