The Vimy Ridge War memorial Canada
sent approximately 650,000 men and women to participate in the First
World War and over 66,000 Canadians gave their lives in the effort. And
in the remembrance of all those worthy people they built this memorial
site.
The trenches at Vimy Ridge have been carefully preserved by the Canadian authorities to provide a lasting reminder of the sacrifices made by thousands of young Canadians. Images of these trenches ca be found in the Image Galleries. The Vimy Ridge War memorial is a segment of a larger piece of work written by a year 9 student at Laisterdyke High School.
