Prisoner of War

In Western Europe the opposing sides had arrangements to pass notification of captured servicemen to each other, via the International Red Cross. This allowed the loved ones of soldiers to know that they were alive rather than being killed or missing in action. Below is an example of a standard letter issued to prisoners of war held by the Italians.
