Spartacus Educational The Spartacus Educational Encyclopedia covers American and British history. It is an excellent and extensive resource for use in research projects and is compiled by the well known author of History text books, John Simkin.
The History Channel The History Channel offers activities and background information on History from around the world. The site has quizzes and a good classroom section.

The BBC

The BBC site offers a range of activities for students following history courses in each Key Stage. These range from being excellent 'bitesize' test and reminders to quizzes and activities that are ideal for younger students.
Schoolscience Odd that a Science website should be recommended for history students. However anyone studying medicine through time will find the history of medicine section very helpful indeed. Some of the best online lessons available.
The Norman Conquest Site Superb site about the Norman Conquest of England. Created by a teacher for use with students this site has really got to grips with the needs of Year 7 students. Easy to access text with activities of differing challenge. Ideal for classroom use.
